Responsibilities - Designer under Senior Designer. My work included facelift upgrades to the existing shopping mall and concept designs and documentation for the new connected malls. The key areas I designed were the floors, voids, skylights, furniture, joinery and an art installation.

Responsibilities - Design Leader. I designed and presented to the client the ocean inspired, organic customer service desk. The client wished for a Yin Yang inspired shape, and I drew on this desire while tying into the overall ocean theme concept of the shopping centre. The construction documentation process also included multiple visits to the joiners and fitters to asses progress and collaborate to achieve the complicated organic shapes and high quality finish.

Responsibilities - Design Leader. I designed and presented to the client the local Indigenous informed art installation. It was inspired by the culturally important Bunya nut and then abstracted to create the lightweight form. The concept was then taken on by an art company who developed the design and constructed it.

Project - Ipswich City Council Civic Office Tower, Ipswich QLD

Responsibilities - Design Leader. This project began in a unique way as the concept was taken over by Buchan from another architectural firm. My role began by consolidating the original concept design, re-designing, and re-presenting to the new sitting council of Ipswich. The office tower features a two-storey inverted podium, with seven stories of offices above (including the council chambers), and three levels of parking with bike storage and end of trip facilities. As design leader I designed and oversaw each office tower level, from the overall concept, floor plan layouts, joinery design, finishes and furniture implementation, to the construction documentation of all elements.

Project - Ipswich City Council Civic Children’s Library, Ipswich QLD

Responsibilities - Design Leader of implementing culturally significant finishes and furniture to the Children’s Library. This involved extensive research as well as collaboration with the Ipswich Council Indigenous representative. I was also tasked with designing and documenting the parent’s room.

Co-Design Leader. Worked in collaboration with an Interior Design colleague. We aimed to design a modern, authentic and high quality working environment. The design intent was focused on a refined balance between the open and private spaces, while drawing on raw materiality to create a comfortable, rather than clinical, space.

Responsibilities - Design Leader. The design of this Italian hospitality tenancy aimed for a modern take on the traditional Italian restaurant style. Pops of orange combined with raw, textural finishes created a contemporary, inviting, light-filled space to linger in.

Responsibilities - Design Leader. The design of this Burger hospitality tenancy aimed for a grungy and yet sophisticated design. Brass touches, combined with concrete and leather, created a refined grunge take on the classic Burger joint concept.

Responsibilities - Design Leader. The brief involved designing multiple furniture pods throughout a multi-level shopping centre. Each pod designed focused on luxury, use of intricate craft and detailing, as well as strong use of colours, patterns and textures. Furniture was carefully selected to suit the desired use of each pod, from long stay comfortable settings, to hard finished short stay furniture. Each selection encouraged either constant movement throughout the malls, or a soft invitation to linger.

Responsibilities - Design Leader under a Senior Architect. The aim of this concept design was to re-invigorate two mall zones that felt unused. By designing an urban lounge feel, with contemporary and colourful elements, the city dweller could use these zones to relax, enjoy their lunch, and shop.

Responsibilities - Design Leader under a Senior Architect. The brief was to create a marketplace of kiosks that tied into the shopping mall. I took inspiration from the gritty textures of the Chongqing laneways, while refining the design to suit the modern and high end shopping centre. The design focused on layers, textures, muted earthy tones, and industrial details to continue the language of a food focused laneway. The concept included a floor pattern design, ceiling design and kiosk design.

Responsibilities - Design Leader. The design and aesthetic of the space is tailored toward the “modern gentleman.” This character embodies an appreciation for the old, and a keen eye for the contemporary. The concept aimed to reflect a classic and yet contemporary feel, and a sophisticated and yet edgy feel. It is this tension between old and new, grungy and classy, that creates the barber shop vibe.

Responsibilities - Design Leader. The design and aesthetic of the foyer is inspired by the client’s desire for elegance and a relationship to the adjacent Jazz bar. As such, the space is minimal, with touches of glamour and abstract textures.

Responsibilities - Design Leader under a Senior Architect. The amenities design focused on minimalism and practicality as it was an Australian-wide amenities roll out across all Home Co/Masters stores. The look and feel of the amenities design ties into the style of the Home Consortium’s interiors, but introduces warmth and texture to create the modern residential experience in a typically clinical environment.

My role involved assisting with concept development, FF&E selections, finishes boards and documentation of the resort complex that included luxury villas, hotel guestrooms, restaurants, bar, grand ballroom, conference rooms, meetings rooms, retail area, kids club and a pool bar.

These included the Premier’s Room, Boronia Ballroom, boardrooms and meetings rooms.

Responsibilities - Design Student in a team of five students. We designed a short stay workplace table pod that could join together for collaboration, or separate for private work. We hand knotted privacy screens for further privacy, constructed brass feet on which the screen could slide into the table recesses, and we hand laminated plywood together to create the table form and structure.
